The purpose of pOTential:
We initiated pOTential with a profound commitment to enhancing the diagnostic journey for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We want to help kids and parents get their answers. We want to cut down the long waiting lists and the prolonged diagnosis process. Our motivation stems from a collective passion for making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families facing the challenges associated with ASD. We recognized the critical importance of accurate and comprehensive assessments in the diagnostic process.
The driving force behind pOTential is a genuine desire to provide specialized expertise in utilizing tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) and Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R).These assessments serve as invaluable resources in unraveling the complexities of ASD, allowing us to contribute essential insights to the diagnostic puzzle.
In establishing pOTential, we aim to go beyond the conventional approach, acknowledging that while ADOS-2 and ADI-R are pivotal diagnostic tools, they are not standalone solutions.

SOME IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT NDIS
RULES AND REGULATIONS REGARDING ADOS ASSESSMENTS
Welcome to our informational guide on the relationship between the ADOS-2 assessment and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Many families and individuals seeking support for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often wonder about the coverage of the ADOS-2 assessment and its associated reports under the NDIS.
The ADOS-2, or Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition, is a widely recognized clinical assessment tool used by healthcare professionals to diagnose and assess ASD. However, it's important to note that the ADOS-2 assessment itself is not covered by the NDIS.
While the ADOS-2 assessment itself may not be covered by the NDIS, it plays a vital role in the diagnostic process. Understanding the NDIS eligibility criteria and consulting with healthcare professionals can help individuals and families navigate the system and access the support they need.

Welcome to pOTential, where our priority is providing a thorough and supportive autism assessment experience.
HERE IS WHAT TO EXPECT DURING AN ADOS ASSESSMENT
LOCATION & SETTING
The assessment is conducted in the comfort of your home or school premises. We require a reasonably empty and low-stimulating room to create an optimal environment for the evaluation.
DURATION
The assessment typically spans a duration of 2 hours. The first hour involves gathering information, completing the sensory profile, and administering the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R). The second hour is dedicated to the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) assessment.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT
Depending on the age of the child, a parent may be requested to be present during the assessment. Your involvement ensures a more accurate understanding of your child's behaviour and responses.
preparatIon
There is no need to prepare for the assessment. However, please inform us in advance if your child will be medicated during the assessment or if they have any allergies. This information helps us create a safe and tailored assessment experience.
POST ASSESSMENT PROCESS
Following the assessment, our clinician will diligently score the evaluations and compile a comprehensive report detailing the findings. Once payment is received, the finalized report will be promptly sent to you within 8-10 working days. IF you would like your report expedited, this can be done at an additional cost! Check out pricing for more information.
communICATION IS KEY
Feel free to inform your clinician of any concerns or if you seek additional information. Open communication ensures a collaborative approach to understanding your child's unique needs.
At pOTential, our commitment is to provide a supportive and informative assessment process, tailored to the individual needs of your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to working with you to enhance the understanding of your child's unique strengths and challenges.
Now what?
Upon receiving your assessment report, you have the option to schedule a feedback session for a thorough review of results and discussion of next steps. However, it's important to note that the ADOS-2 assessment is not intended to stand alone as a diagnostic tool. In Queensland, Australia, only qualified health professionals such as pediatricians, psychiatrists, and psychologists possess the authority to formally diagnose Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Once you have your report, you can bring it to your chosen specialist, who will carefully examine it alongside their own assessments and reports to provide a comprehensive and formal diagnosis. This collaborative approach ensures a thorough understanding of your unique situation and enhances the accuracy of the diagnostic process
